My Beef Story - SBIC
January 25, 2023
I am so thankful to be a part of the beef industry and to have had the opportunity to share “My Beef Story” at the Saskatchewan Beef Industry Conference Saskatchewan Cattlemen's Association last night. Thank you to 4-H Saskatchewan and the SBIC for asking me to speak, I had a great time and made so many new connections! I also had the opportunity to meet Quick Dick McDick and listen to him live! Here’s to beef! #seethroughag #mybeefstory #saskbeef #cdnbeef #beef #eatbeef #beefindustry

Meet Your Producer
December 6, 2021
Hi, my name is Jessica Davey. I am a young beef producer,
and first year Animal Science degree student at the University of Saskatchewan.
I am living in Saskatoon while attending school, and I was raised in the Rural
Municipality of Montrose No. 315 in Saskatchewan, Canada where our family beef
operation is located. I am a partial owner and operator of Rivendale Cattle
Company with my parents Gord and Dawn, and my brothers Conner, and Morgan Davey.
I also operate my own business Jessica Davey Photography, offering lifestyle, farming,
ranching, and livestock photography. I am involved in many youth agricultural organizations
across Saskatchewan, and Canada such as 4-H, the Junior Angus Association, and the
Junior Shorthorn Association.
Rivendale Cattle Company was established in 2014 and is
growing to this day. Our family runs a split purebred, and commercial beef
cattle herd of 60 Black Angus, and Shorthorn cows. On our family farm we also raise, market, and sell beef to local customers in the Saskatoon area. Throughout the year we
market both purebred and commercial beef cattle through private treaty, online,
and live cattle sales. In the Fall we retain heifer calves (purebred and commercial),
and top of the range bull calves (purebred), and then we market the steer
calves (commercial) to auction. In the Winter we market bred heifers to purebred
consignment sales. In the Spring we market yearling bulls, two-year old bulls,
and yearling heifers. Our 1st Annual Bull and Female Sale was in the
Spring of 2021, and we will be holding an annual sale every year.
I am pursuing a post secondary education at the University
of Saskatchewan, College of Agriculture and Bioresources. I am studying for a
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in the Animal Science program. I
plan to do a double minor, minoring in Rangeland Resources, and Agribusiness. I
plan to be a progressive livestock producer with a split purebred, and
commercial beef cattle herd, while operating my photography business, Jessica
Davey Photography, and I have built this blog as I hope to connect producers with
consumers and build transparency with “See Through Ag.”
Jessica Davey Photography was established in 2019 in
lifestyle photography and has grown through the incorporation of my photography
on our family’s beef cattle operation to offering farming, ranching, and
livestock photography. I hope to use photography to capture images of
agriculture from farming, and ranching families to the crops, and livestock they
produce, and how that food is produced by families to feed the world. I plan to
share my photography, videography for all to see the ever-growing story of
agriculture.
I am involved in youth agricultural organizations, in which;
I have been a member of 4-H for ten years, the Canadian, Saskatchewan Junior
Angus Association for six years, and the Canadian, Saskatchewan Junior
shorthorn Association for two years. Involvement in these organizations has
built a passion for agriculture in my life. I have networked, and met so many
people from both rural, and urban backgrounds, made connections, gained
knowledge, and have learned new skills.
The beef industry is my passion. Agriculture feeds the world and without it there would be no world. It is my goal to build transparency in agriculture to share my culture, the story of our culture.
